next on the ranch

well...we tried a miniature donkey, loved the world's cutest pygmy goat, currently house 2 dogs, have dappled in skunk relocating and are just convinced we are ranchers at heart. a week ago we brought home our first flock of chicks. 11 in all, including 5 rhode island reds and 6 americanas. all are known for being extremely hardy (that's good for me) and excellent layers of the colored eggs we love (good for the kids farm-fresh-eggs business).
i promised myself i wouldn't get attached, what with the skunk population and other past drama, but i must admit that i am pretty smitten already. we've made it a community coop, with friends and neighbors kids picking and naming one for their own (your welcome parents), and i have my fingers crossed that they live a long and productive life with us.
we have ramona and beezus (e's), bobbi jo (the pill's), jack, yogi, cracker, cookie dough, snickerdoodle, poachy, dog/ava and....i forget the last one. but whatever, i'm not bonding.
she's bonding.
so is he.

she wants to bond...in her own way.
