back in the groove
Feels good to be back in the swing of things. As much as we all love summer, its unending chaos and erracticness makes for craziness and irratibility. Just the few days of being back on a schedule have made for happier children and even happier parents.
Two children now scurry down the driveway to catch the bus. The Pill is in heaven and taking to Kindergarten with gusto. E is back into her fashion swing and lovin the social game as always. I am lucky to have children that transition smoothly and come home at the end of the day excited to see me. Job well done.

Summer Rain
It is only fitting that after our tumultuous day yesterday, I would wake to the sound of thunder. Hmph...roll over and snooze...honk-shoo. Until I smelled the rain. I grabbed a warm morning beverage and headed out to sit on the porch. And then ran back in to grab a hoodie, because someone out there was thinking of me and knew this was just what I needed.
Then the children slowly rolled out of bed, and for an hour we soaked it all in along with the grass.
Then the summer rain got me to thinking about Summer Rain. Our dear friends, beloved rescued greyhound (because they don't have naughty children that walk on two legs) who is no longer with them. I wondered if they were thinking of Summer Rain as they were listening along to it.

picture taken from a happier day
Whoa, today was a narrow and bumpy road. I think everyone is suffering from too much togetherness and looking for a change of pace that only school can bring. And quickly.
As I was tucking The Pill into bed, we decided tonight was definitley a night to a)be thankful, b)ask for blessings and c)plead for forgiveness. A prayer, if you will.
The Pill's went like this(for the most part), "please forgive me for everything I did today, I didn't mean to do it all. And please bless my Mommy that she will still love us tomorrow. Amen."
Mine will be roughly the same.
There are those days, where the most comforting part is knowing that you can do it over differently tomorrow. It is a new day. And as mothers, I think one of the most important things we can do is forgive ourselves and move on. Try harder tomorrow.
At least, as of right now, that is my plan. 8.05.2010
Looked up just in time to see the coeur d' Alene river, bordered on both sides with millions of pines. I have been missing some of the beauty because I was busy trying to find a blogger app that will allow me to post pics taken with my hipstamatic photo app directly from my iPhone to blogger. With text. And I think I nailed it. Look at the cute picture of my sleeping beauty (for about 20 minutes) below. Feeling kinda smart right about now.
Back to the scenic drive. Later.

aaahh...
...this is where we will heading tomorrow and relaxing through the weekend. from this picture, i have picked out my spot on the beach for the music festival. that is when we aren't at the small, quaint beach that is just a short one block walk from my brother's house. i can already smell the pines and feel the calm. i will be thinking of all of you while i mug on my darling nephews and my own dear family. and i will try to bottle up the smell and beauty in what i think is one of the most beautiful places in the states.
