painting
oh...a good chunk of the blue is gone and the end is near. for me anyway. last night wrapped up the the majority of painting. there will still be mouldings to touch up once they are in, but the rollers and trays have been cleaned and stored away until needed again. i wish this would be for years, but have a feeling it won't be for too long.
i have the elephant skin (gray) bathroom i was hoping for, a new pair of painting pants that i could do without and an even greater appreciation of Tony who showed up four days in a row with painting clothes and a smile on. it is funny how we all longed for him to walk through the door each evening at 6pm.
and then Andi. who also showed up day after day (with coffee) and took on the worst job of all. THE BANISTER. i told her yesterday, as we were trying to be meticulous about painting each and every post, that although i didn't plan on sitting on my rear throughout this project, i didn't anticipate doing as much as i have. but i look around my new place and see us--our family. not only in its design, but in its labor. there is a sense of pride (and a lot of exhaustion) that comes from doing it yourself.
and we only have the other half of the banister to finish painting. at least i hope there is still a we in this equation.
wood starts going in tonight. i am not involved in this part of the project, a whole different set of worker bee friends will show up to contribute their skill and knowledge. my job is to feed them.
